Hosta ‘Brother Stefan’ makes its impression with thick, heavily corrugated foliage that combines brilliant gold centers with broad green margins. The deeply puckered leaves give this hosta exceptional texture, while the bold color contrast makes it stand out even from a distance.
 
As the season progresses, the gold center can shift toward chartreuse, while the substantial foliage holds its form and gives the plant a strong presence in the shade garden. White flowers appear above the foliage in early summer.
 
Named by hybridizer Olga Petryszyn for her brother Stefan, ‘Brother Stefan’ was introduced in 1998 and selected as the 2017 Hosta of the Year. Its parentage is H. ‘King Tut’ × a seedling of H. ‘Mildred Seaver’.
